Lift Bed Manufacturer Business Plan
Load Hog Inc., also known as Load Hog, was established December 1997 by John Kowalski and Carol Kowalski. The company is an automotive manufacturer for after-market. It manufactures a revolutionary, patent-pending device that converts pickup trucks into dump trucks. This ingenious pneumatic device is invisible when not in use, weighs only 120 pounds when installed, and is virtually maintenance free. In New Zealand, in the late 70’’s and early 1980’’s, the pneumatic hoist was invented. It uses the exhaust gases from the vehicle to lift the bed and fill the lifting envelope. Load Hog was able to overcome the obvious dangers of the original concept by adding an on-board air compressor.
Load Hog is looking to raise $4 million of staged capital over 18 months to fund an aggressive public relations and advertisement campaign to educate truck owners and buyers about the Load Hog Program’s cost, availability, and capabilities. These funds will be used in the initialization of the advertising and public relations plan which will use $40,000 in its first phase. The balance of funding for the first phase will support sales managers, additional inventory, manufacturing equipment and continued operations.
Phase I: $175,000 – This phase has been completed using debt capital, and has been committed.
Phase II: $200,000
Phase III & IV: $1 million/$17 million. These phases will be realized using both equity and debt. These funds will support the company’s marketing and sales push, help to build sales personnel, continue operations expansion, purchase new capital equipment, expand manufacturing operations and provide working cash to meet rapidly increasing demand. The appendix** shows that Ford has made recent commitments to include Load Hog within the Super Duty Dealer Ordering Guide Model Year 2002. This will increase our revenues.
The purpose behind the phased approach to funding money is that it allows an organization to take on new business and to grow at a controlled and planned pace. Each phase is part of the growth strategy. Individual transactions can be pursued, or, if there are multiple investors interested, you can structure a longer term transaction. The new sales manager will allow the president and staff to respond to potential investor requests, improve assembly and procurement operations and engineer upgrades, as well as help develop new products.
