Vending Services Business Plan
Introduction
Chef Vending, LLC is a family start-up business that specializes in importing vending machines and commercial food & beverage equipment from Spain. With high-quality, innovative vending machines, we will be able to penetrate the vending market. We will set up our own vending machines in the Southern Florida region. We are also planning to join the $321billion food & beverages industry by supplying innovative high-quality equipment. With the establishment of one strategic alliance with a national brand name in either of our vending lines, we expect to easily exceed our financial forecasts.
The Company
Chef Vending’s mission in life is to be the best at introducing quality, innovative vending machines and equipment to restaurants. We will satisfy our customers’ needs wherever possible through close customer contact and strong relationships.
Chef Vending, LLC, an LLC in Florida, is a privately owned corporation. The company maintains an office as well small warehouses in North Miami Beach, Florida.
Three of the four founders have complete operational responsibility. Javier Palmera & Mauricio Ordonez have both business and entrepreneurial experience. Charles Mulligan provides financial and operational skills as well as management expertise to the operation.
The Products
Chef Vending has two product lines to cater to the different markets it serves. Our unique Sandwich Express machine will be available, as well as our Fresh Orange Juice Machine and Multi-line Dispenser. Toasters, fresh juice squeezers, and espresso makers will all be part of our restaurant equipment.
Sandwich Express and most of our products are new machines. They have features and advantages that aren’’t available in common vending machines. Chef Vending has a competitive advantage over established competitors.
We intend to continue expanding our product line. We have immediate plans to create a bigger Sandwich Express and offer more options for sandwiches. Other products are currently in the exploratory stage.
We are also interested in establishing supplier relationships with major sandwich and juice companies. This would enable Chef Vending to supply machines to national companies and allow them to brand the machines with their product lines.
The Market
Revenue from U.S. vending consumable merchandise was $24.5 billion last year, an increase of 4.9% over the previous year, according to the Automatic Merchandiser magazine’s latest State of the Vending Industry Report. Small businesses with sales less than 1 million dollars accounted to 5.8% of this market. The projected sales were $1.35 Billion. Three quarters all vending machine operators fall under this category.
Snacks and cold beverages make up the majority of the industry’s product categories. These two segments are the industry’s driving force. According to the Automat Merchandiser (AM), food sales increased at a rate exceeding 7% in 2013. The impressive growth of cold storage machines last year was 42%, which was significantly higher than the rise in shelf-stable products.
According to the National Restaurant Association revenues from restaurants will reach $321 billion. This is a huge and vital industry for our economy. It will be a boon to suppliers.
All this shows that a fast-moving company that is innovative can bring new products to the vending machine/restaurant customers in a relatively short amount of time.
Chef Vending will market their machines to three different market segments, including distributors and manufacturers of branded sandwiches and juices. We will concentrate on restaurant and hotel equipment as well as equipment suppliers companies for our restaurant equipment company.
Financial Considerations
The company will start up with a cost of $157,000, of which $125,000 is from a ten-year SBA Loan. Short-term borrowing will provide us with an additional $2,500 and the rest will be provided by investment capital.
Our monthly break-even point is approximately $93,000, or 27 vending machines. We will be able to generate a much higher sales level due to our innovative vending machine and restaurant equipment. We expect to generate $500,000 of net profit on $2.8 million worth of sales in the first year.
