Garden Products Recycling Business Plan

Garden Products Recycling Business Plan

Hair Recycling Technologies’ (HRT) area of business will be to: collect, sanitize, and market human hair to be used as a consumer good. Our hair products made from recycled hair will appeal to home gardeners, who will appreciate hair’s unique elements and strong human scent.

Our product’s ability to promote healthy plant life as well as deter pests and other animals will benefit the consumer. Hair Recycling Technologies is initially going to manufacture three products: SMARTSOIL, HAREAWAY pest deterrent, as well as an organic plant food that’s specifically made for rose bushes.

Hair Recycling Technologies enters a niche market as human hair has never previously been marketed in this way. This is a novel and viable business concept that will be attractive to a large market. Due to these factors, this venture has exciting possibilities due to its high potential and unique, innovative nature.

Investors will receive their money within one year. The company will also maintain positive cash flow. This is one of the best aspects of the business. The first year will see the business break even in its ninth month.

We are well into our in-depth research on human hair’s positive elements and potential uses. Although the research will continue, initial results were positive.

HRT plans work with the University of Georgia Horticulture Department in order to investigate and test the possibility of using human hair as a growth stimulator. Our product was also highly sought after by South Bend nurseries.

1.1 Keys to Success

Businesses operating barber shops and beauty clinics have always found hair clippings a nuisance. Municipal landfills often dispose of large amounts human hair in areas with high waste volumes. Driven by state and federal mandates, recycling and composting of municipal solid waste have increased dramatically during the past decade. In 1997, there were over 9,000 curbside recycling programs and 12,000 drop-off centres for recyclable material in America. The EPA set a target of recycling 35 percent by 2005. It also maintained a daily solid waste generation rate of 4.3 pounds per person. This gives the consumer the chance to reuse landfill-bound waste and reap the benefits of hair’s many positive qualities.

Our research has revealed that clippings made from human hair are extremely rich in nutrients and can be used to make higher-quality plant food or soil enhancers than any currently available.

Human hair, like wool, silk, other organic materials has a very high level of nitrogen. The soil also contains nitrogen, which encourages tissue to grow. A huge amount of nitrogen could be found if the sweepings of a barbershop were applied regularly to a compost pile. Six to seven pounds worth of human hair can contain around one pound each of nitrogen. This is equivalent to the amount found in 100 to 200 tons of manure. Hair will also disintegrate just as quickly as feathers if it is kept in a moistened compost heap.

Experiments with 32 varieties of roses by William Stafford, of Austin Texas, indicate that human hair used around the roots of bushes produces longer stems, larger buds, and deeper color tones. Stafford tried hair at the base of plants. He found that it was able to accelerate growth but it took months for the hairs to fall. Stafford produced a plant recipe for his experiments, which HRT will reproduce. Stafford’s rose food recipe does not have a registered patent.

1.2 Mission

Hair Recycling Technologies is a company that provides a source of recyclable material to consumers so they can enjoy the many benefits of hair’s organic elements and properties. We also hope to inspire a positive attitude about recycling and the Earth’s environment.

1.3 Objectives

The innovative concept of recycling human hair in order to make soil improvers, plant foods, or animal deterrents is novel to the garden and plant industry. We are confident that this product will be successful in the marketplace due to its unique quality and the many positive attributes that human hair can bring to the gardener.

This product will be appealing to the consumer because it is organic and therefore in growing demand. It also has marketable benefits.
