Plastics Recycling Business Plan

Plastics Recycling Business Plan

Opportunity

Problem

How much of our solid waste is plastic? According to the Environmental Protection Agency, plastic accounted for 12% of the 254,000,000 tons of solid waste produced in 2007. This is more than 30,000,000 tons of plastic produced in one year. Some reports claim that plastic materials can take hundreds or even decades to become compostable in a landfill. By joining our plastics recycle program, you become part of a group of Green-minded businesses and people who recycle millions in plastics throughout the United States every year.

And, for every 1 ton of plastic that’s recycled, reports estimate that 7 yards of landfill space is saved. You can also save 80% of the energy required to produce new plastic bottles, containers, and other items. It’s simple to see why recycling plastic has such an important role.

Baled plastics, specifically plastic bottles, have a high scrap value per ton. Aluminum cans, however, are the only other recyclable that’s more valuable.

Solution

Replay Plastics will create a PET (polyethylene terephthalate) cleaning and refining plant located in the western United States (all 16 major North American PET recycling plants are currently located in the eastern United States or Canada). The initial capacity of the plant will be 46,000,000 pounds. It will make use of post-consumer PET feed stock currently collected in California. Oregon. Washington. This collects more than 200,000,000 pounds annually. The Company is vertically integrated. It will use most of its recycled material for its Packaging Division. Any surplus material (clean flake), that is produced, will go to outside companies. The extruded sheets may be sold to manufacturers who will use them in high-value, high-visibility packaging. The strapping is sold to companies that ship large packages or pallets such as the lumber industry.

Market

Both the Company’s divisions are currently not subject to direct competition in the United States. Any production in the trading area remains captive and not available to our target market.

It is essential that the Company can obtain post-consumer stock in order to be able to vertically integrate its operations and produce products that are in high demand by the western consuming industries. Without the cleaning and refining division, it would be difficult to source sufficient RPET flake resin at costs that would allow the Company to be competitive.

Concurrence

Our products have been in high demand for many years. The traditional buying patterns in this sector are based on price, quality, reputation of the manufacturer, freight costs and delivery times. In this market, availability is often more important than quality.

Why Us?

Replay Plastics manufactures products from recycled plastics. It uses environmentally-friendly manufacturing and recycling methods. We intend to make enough profit to generate a significant return for our investors and to finance continued growth and continued development in quality products. We will create a positive, fair and creative work environment that respects diversity, new ideas, hard work, and celebrates creativity.

Expectations

Forecast

Replay Plastics will be able to begin production within a few months after it has completed the construction of the packaging and recycling facilities and purchased the equipment.

Financial Highlights Year-by-Year

Financing Required

Our Founders will put up a total of $1.5 million dollars. The 2.7 million dollars will be raised by a group VC investors. This will give replay plastics access to the 4.2 million it needs to get started.
