Dance Studio Business Plan
Dancing is an ancient tradition. For centuries, ballroom dancing was a popular activity at social functions. Swing and Latin were the Waltz- and Foxtrot of old. Recent years have seen social dancing become a more prominent part of our lives. It is in our media, our music and day to day social functions. It isn’t taught to children from parents so they are searching schools that offer it. Dancesport being considered as a gold sport in the next Olympics will increase exposure to Social and Ballroom Dance.
U&ME Dance is committed to providing quality, affordable dance instruction in Bellingham. Bellingham has a vibrant and committed ballroom dance community. However, there has never been an actual dance studio, where these people can expand their knowledge of dance and enjoy being with other people of like interests. We intend to draw in the existing dance community and build a solid base of support to help us get started. We will then be able spread the message that dancing can be fun and an exciting way to spend your time. Dancing has many benefits that will appeal to people of all backgrounds and interests.
U&ME Dance was founded by Toni Simler (a mother-daughter duo) and Mary Evans (a dancer/owner). Both have been active in ballroom and social dance since 1995. Mary was an instructor and supervisor in dance studios throughout the Seattle area. In the last three-years, she has taught private dancing instruction as an independent contractor. Toni retired recently from Lucent Technologies after thirty years of service as a manager in customer support, contract management, and business management. She studied dance for many years with her husband. They still enjoy dancing socially. Toni will be joined by Mary to create a strong team for U&ME Dance.
