Introduction

Contemporary Ti Design is a designer/manufacturer of original titanium jewelry. Contemporary Ti Design creates a variety different designs including earnings and pins as well as pendants. All of the products are designed and manufactured by Steve Artificer. To grow the company and attain the desired market penetration, the company set the following production/marketing goals for the next three year:

  • The utilization of Contemporary’s designs in at least 40 different galleries.
  • The number of designs increased by 8% per a year.


The Company

Contemporary Ti Design, based in Hood River (OR), is a custom manufacturer for titanium jewelry. Contemporary Ti Design has a wide range of jewelry offerings, from pendants, to pins, to earnings. Steve Artificer created all of the pieces. The business will be located in Steve’s home. Steve sells the pieces direct through his website as well as through selected galleries and art shows. Steve plans to hire a sales representative by month eight to handle customer interaction.


The Market

The jewelry industry has many artisans competing for distribution deals and fame. Some are local distributors, while others have national distribution systems. Some artists will design products for larger companies to manufacture, others will design and make the pieces themselves. Here are some examples of Contemporary Ti Competition:

  • Artists create designs that can be manufactured on large scale and distributed across the country.

  • Companies that employ their own designers. In this case everything is done in-house, design, marketing and wholesaling.

  • Steve is an artist who designs and manufactures all of the pieces. Then, he does the wholesaling/retailing.

Contemporary Ti Design will target two distinct customers. The first is the end customer, and the second is galleries that will be used to distribute the products. Steve will interact with the end consumer via his website and through personal contact at exhibitions/shows. Exhibitions and shows will be used to meet the galleries (museum shops, jewellery stores).


Financial Considerations

Steve Artificer will fully finance Contemporary Ti with equity capital. We will pass our break-even point within the first year. Based on sales projections over the next three-years, conservative projections predict an annual revenue in excess of $75,000 by year 3. The company expects its cash account to remain healthy.

The objectives for the first three years of operation include:

  • To build a company that manufactures jewelry with the goal of exceeding customers’ expectations.

  • Contemporary’s designs are used in at least 40 galleries.

  • To increase the number or designs available by 8% per annum.

  • To develop a profitable/sustainable home-based company.
