In recent years, rock climbing has gone from extreme to mainstream. Each year, rock climbing becomes more popular. Igneous Rock Gym hopes to capitalize on this rapid growth and be the first and only Igneous climbing gym.

Census.gov says that greater Igneous has a population exceeding 350,000. Nearly all people can and do climb. Therefore, it makes sense to use this figure for the potential climbing market. Indoor climbing should be appealing to the broadest range of people to ensure Igneous Rock Gym’s continued success. The following are ways this can be done:

  • With properly trained staff, creating a safe environment.
  • Making the gym group more friendly
  • Encouraging and providing instruction to new climbers.
  • Ensuring that the ‘fun factor’ is high in order to generate strong word of mouth marketing.

Americans are increasingly looking for experiences and not just products. Igneous Rock Gym wants to give each customer an experience that will inspire them to keep coming back.

Igneous Rock Gym will be a Limited Liability Company, with start-up funding provided in its entirety by the owners, Micah Quartz and Cole Granite. Quartz and Granite have unique skills and experience in building design and build, and more than ten years in climbing gym construction.

Climbing gyms have high start-up costs; however, once built, they enjoy extremely low cost of sales. Igneous Rock Gym’s high margins will enable it to make strong profits within its first 12 months. The company will make just over $250,000 in sales the first year, and it will have a high net profit to sales ratio. Profits are expected to rise in the following two fiscal years. These projections are based on a modest annual growth in sales. If the fitness gym industry’s growth rate of 10% were used, the profits would be even higher.

Igneous Rock Gym’s mission it to offer patrons all ages an enjoyable, safe and secure environment to exercise, socialize, or learn new climbing skills. Because they are focused on these basic qualities, friendly and knowledgeable staff can create an environment that welcomes both the novice climber as well as the more experienced climber.

Igneous Rock Gym intends to accomplish three objectives

  1. In the first 12 months, sales of more than $250,000.
  2. A minimum of 8% growth in sales during the second or third years of operation.
  3. Make it the premier indoor climbing facility in the greater Igneous metro area.

Four key factors are essential for the success of any climbing gym:
